The importance of quality and safety tests is growing
in all segments of the bicycle market. Reasons for this are not in the
least due to new legal regulations for product liability and safety.
The growing importance of quality management for brand manufacturers
also plays a substantial role. The publication of such objective
performance data in the high-end market segment is an essential part of
the entire marketing concept.
The growing need for tests now makes it even more
economically interesting for bike and component manufacturers to run
their very own in-house tests. The resulting expertise then flows
beneficially back into the company’s own quality assurance and
development schemes. EFBe offers the bike specific testing techniques
you are looking for.
As long as the safety standards contain respective regulations, the
test stands are compatible with ISO 4210 and European standards EN 14764, 14766 and 14781. In addition, they also allow
for the application of the new and improved EFBe Standards.
1. Fatigue test stands ------------------------------------------------------ These simulate frequently recurring mechanical
loads. The test measures the safety of a component concerning the
development of fatigue fractures, which can cause serious accidents. A
fatigue test machine exerts a lifetime’s equivalent of loads on a
component in only a matter of hours.
2. Maximum load/Overload test stands ------------------------------------------------------ Maximum load test stands simulate infrequently
occurring maximum static loads which can lead to permanent deformation,
especially in high-quality lightweight constructions. These test stands
can also be applied as Overload test stands for checking a components
behavior under missuse conditions.
3. Rigidity test stands ------------------------------------------------------ Rigidity is an important quality characteristic
when manufacturing frames. So much so, it is now being tested all the
more frequently, even by specialist bike magazines. Important: As a
non-destructive testing method, rigidity tests are an excellent way of
controlling 100% of the manual production of carbon frames and components.
4. Brake test stand ------------------------------------------------------ This is an automated test of hand and
foot operated brakes. The following is
tested: static load, delay in dry and wet conditions, resistance to
thermal distortion (fading), as well as wear and tear.
