NEW! Test service for PEDELEC E-Bikes

PEDELECs are electric bicycles that require the rider to pedal to activate the electric motor. PEDELECs up to 250 W and 25 km/h are referred to as EPACs. Three test programmes are available for these bicycles:

  • EN 15194 Electrically power assisted cycles – EPAC Bicycles comprises the mechanical tests to EN 14764.
  • The German version DIN EN 15194 includes a non-binding National Annex (NA) which recommends increased requirements for frame and fork when testing to EN 14764.
  • EFBe recommendations for EPACs include a TRI TEST with increased dynamic requirements compared to EN 14764. These requirements are based on investigations into the higher road speeds and mileages that electrically assisted bicycles achieve. The test loads of SP Trekking/city bikes were transformed into component-specific loading levels at 100,000 load cycles with a damage calculation (miner’s rule).

First successfully EFBe tested EPACs can be found at Test results under City/Trekking bikes. For further information and advice, please call us or send an e-mail.
