Safety has priority ------------------------------------------------------ Those who regularly push their bikes to the limit
may have already experienced a fractured or cracked component. This is
usually caused by construction, manufacturing, or material defects that
can lead to micro-cracks, even when only subject to low but repeated stress loads.
Continued exposure increases the size of these minute cracks,
until the remaining cross-section of the supporting structure suddenly
gives away. Carbon frames can show complete fracture by one single overload. This can result in serious accidents.
Three performance categories ------------------------------------------------------ The fatigue
tests give an accurate accelerated simulation of the damage
suffered by a bike component over the years. Throughout the test the
component is repeatedly subject to exactly defined test loads.
A
component successfully completes a specific performance level if it can
withstand the stress of the respective testing loads 100,000 times
without fracturing or cracking. For each bicycle type EFBe
distinguishes between three different performance categories:
EFBe Database ------------------------------------------------------ Our public database contains the data of frames that successfully completed
durability tests in EFBe’s test laboratory. Only results from customers who
give us permission to publish their data are listed.
